新年快乐!Saved this post 1 hour into 初一,but only got down to blogging today on 初九!Anyways, here are the highlights from the eve and first four days of Lunar New Year 2011 :)
2nd February (除夕) It is Lunar New Year's eve! As usual...
Pray to ancestors from morning to afternoon! They "ate" first, then our turn! So that's our own family's reunion lunch.
Then at night, my aunt and uncles and their family came over for a big reunion dinner. Here we are preparing to 捞 the homemade 鱼生 my mama prepared. Super yummy! Totally win all those that restaurants sell.
This year, we had more "activities" on this night. After dinner, bros, Dom and I played a few rounds of Monopoly Deal. Fun! (Actually the game is alright only, but it's enjoyable playing with the right people!)
When everyone had went home, we started to write calligraphy! Haha... My parents say this is called 挥春。See the 兔年行大运?There are 5 of us in my family, so each of us wrote on word! Guess which one is written by me? It should be quite easy to guess if you know my handwriting well :) See that 财神 there? I drew it! Heehee!
3rd February (初一) Next morning... 新年快乐!
D-kor and I hung up the calligraphy works. My mum was just there to pose for the photo! Haha!
After a whole day of house visits, we had another "reunion dinner" at Novena, with close relatives from my mother's side! These are my cousins, with my 2 bros standing behind... Cos they are the OLDest! :P
4th February (初二) In the morning, I drove to Yan Rui's house to 拜年 after having breakfast.
After which, he came home with me to 向我父母拜年。
There was lion dance again! Many relatives came and some of the adults were super excited, eagerly catching the vegetables and oranges that the "lion" threw towards the crowd. It supposedly brings good luck... I think more specifically, wealth. Haha!
5th February (初三) Time to stay home and wait for people to visit!
Here are my nieces are nephews! So cute hor? Heehee... Too bad they don't know me well, so they were quite shy... So all I could do was hold a camera and happily snap away while they play amongst themselves! My mum was elated hearing the joyful laughter of children and seeing them run around the house! Hopefully our home would filled with even more happy, active children in future! ;) hohoho~~
6th February (初四) This day, EVEN MORE people came!
My relatives, my parents' friends and even my big bro's friends! 3 tables of mahjong and we even ordered buffet! Can imagine how lively it was... Luckily there was enough space at home! Haha... It's a bit tiring, but I do enjoy such gatherings once in awhile! Especially since my cousins and I had much fun playing Monopoly Deal again! :)
